I transferred to the Academy from Thorne Grammar School where I was a Deputy Head.
My current role is working within the Academic Standards team. My specialist area is vocational education and I line manage this aspect of the curriculum throughout the academy. I also specifically line manage Sociology/psychology and Health and Social Care and teach within these subject areas. I work closely with the Sixth Form team as their line manager as well. Our numbers have increased from about 80 students when we first opened to be around 230 in the current Sixth Form. Next year we expect numbers to be over 250!
The facilities at the school are fantastic and everything is provided for you to be able to get on and do your job. If you can’t teach here you can’t teach anywhere.
The school has a Christian ethos but this is not an issue for those from other faith backgrounds or none, like me. If you do your job well you are respected and rewarded.
I am a people person and so this is the ideal profession for me. I enjoy my job and love watching the standards in the school continue to rise.
