Rosie Alcock

Assistant Vice Principal for Teaching and Learning

Rosie Alcock

I joined the Academy in 2006 after hearing about the positive ethos, integrity and values delivered here. Since joining, I've come to realise that not only is our ethos demonstrated to students in a practical way, but that it really works in raising self esteem and consequently, student achievement.

Our students are ultimately why we are here. They are amazing; helpful, enthusiastic and generally so grateful for the opportunities they are given.

My role is very diverse, and I thrive on this. As well as teaching English and leading across the Academy in Teaching and Learning, I am also a coursework advisor for a public exam board - this has involved an element of external training, which has been fully supported by the school. There is career development for all staff, whether you are teaching or non teaching, which I think is great as it enhances what we do and helps us grow as professionals. The NQT support programme in particular is second to none.

The overall support here is excellent, with an outstanding leadership team who are accessible to all staff and can provide practical advice as soon as you need it. The leadership are interested in your character as well as your skills - both would be considered in the recruitment process. The Leadership team also show genuine concern about your personal and professional well being.

Our climate of accountability and recognition, no matter what your position or level, is motivating. That's what I love; I know what I contribute is valued.

The King's Academy is a wonderful place to work if you want to commit fully to an institution - you really do get out what you put in. In my 16 years as a teacher, I have never been happier or more fulfilled than I am here.
