The Bede Academy Admissions Policy determines admission to its places in each Year Group (90 for Primary Years and 180 for Secondary Years) in the following priorities:

• Children with Statements of Special Educational Need First priority is given to those Statemented children where Northumberland County Council and Bede Academy agree that the Academy is the most appropriate school to meet their needs.

After all of these Statemented Children have been admitted, all other places will be allocated strictly in accordance with the following criteria:

• Children in Public Care

• Children on whose behalf written evidence of exceptional medical or social need is presented, such evidence being supplied by a professionally involved third party and which must set out the particular reasons why the Academy is the most suitable school

• Children who have a sibling(s) who is already in the Academy (siblings are recognised as brothers, sisters, half-brothers, half-sisters, step-brothers and step-sisters who reside permanently in the same household)

• Children who live in the published Catchment Area for the Academy
  
  (Please note that the Catchment Area for admission to the Primary Years (Reception to Year 6) is not the same as the Catchment Area for the Secondary Years (Years 7-9). The Secondary Catchment is larger and includes all of the Primary Catchment within it.)

• Children, on the basis of the closeness of their home's front door to the front gate of the Academy, measured by walking in the shortest possible line without entering private property
